Signs of peace in 2011

What signs of peace do you hope to see in 2011?

Jan. 17th, 2009

So long....

Wow! I had no idea it had been so long since posting on peace_signs. Looks like this community may not be as active as I had hoped. Today I am feeling peaceful as we head into the innaguration of a new president. I feel hopeful.

Wednesday Intro

Hi everyone! I recently did a quick intro to this community but I'll try to elaborate a little more in this post. =)

My name is Stacie and, for as long as I can remember, I've always signed my letters and emails with some form of "Peace". In fact, it's part of the reason I chose to get my peace tattoo *points to icon*. Although I had some rough years during my 20s and early 30s due to having bipolar disorder, I'm finally at a peaceful place in my life (I'm now 43). Even during my younger years, I strived for peace in my life. I believe in being honest and truthful and was always the kid trying to break up fights instead of getting into them.

I guess that's all for now. If I think of anything else, I'll post it next Wednesday. =)

peace and harmony, Love

(no subject)

I'm chris and live in Minnesota. I'm mom to an 11-year-old and am doing what I can to ensure the world he lives in is a better place. I often wonder today - who wold want to bring a child into today's world. But we do, because we are hopeful.

I see peace and the environment as being connected in extreme ways. IN order to clean up our world we have to work together with everyybody.

I'm really happy to be in this community and I'm thankful to Veruca for starting and maintaining it.

My Peace Sign

I'm new to this community and I'm so glad I found it! I have a tattoo of a rainbow peace sign on my chest so I took a photo of it and turned it into an icon to show all of you. Yes, I have too much time on my hands. =)

Glad to be here!

Seasonal Peace

I am musing on what time of the year seems most peaceful to me. Summer is lazy and not controlling once you get past summer holidays. It's not my favorite season, but I do enjoy it for it's peacefulness.

I love fall. Changing colors (in my neck o' the woods at least) and leaves silently falling. I don't know that I call it peaceful though. Football games, the resumption of school and fall holidays make it rushed and sometimes harried. No. It's not very peaceful.

Winter is grueling. Snow can be peaceful and also biting and viscious.

Spring. Well, this spring was filled with flooding, wind and windstorms and a variety of other happenings that took away from the peacefulness of the budding trees and flowers sprouting from the ground.

I guess summer is my choice for peaceful. Still.....I can find peace in all seasons.

What about you?

Poll #1225937 What season is the most peaceful and why?

What season is the most peaceful for you?

I want another choice!

What are the reasons for your choice?

The sounds of summer (x-posted in my own journal)

I find these sounds of summer about as peaceful as you can get. I was leaving work last night and it really is one of my favorite  things.

It's evening.

There is a pond nearby. Houses. I am in a parking lot.

I hear . . . frogs, a child's laughter and a lawn mower.

I love summer.

Peaceful Children

"Take the hand of your child and invite her to go out and sit with you on the grass. The two of you may want to contemplate the green grass, the little flowers that grow among the grasses, and the sky. Breathing and smiling together-that is peace education. If we know how to appreciate these beautiful things, we will not have to search for anything else. Peace is available in every moment, in every breath, in every step."

Peace is Every Step

Where do you go?

I'm just wondering...

Where do you go to get a little peace?
Does you have to be alone?
Does it have to be quiet?

I would like to have more peaceful people in our peaceful community. Feel free to invite your friends!
